Hundreds Lace Up for Heart and Stroke

Picton Gourmet Chef and Stroke Survivor Among those Participating
By Rick Fralick

Satisfied Souls - Stroke survivor Janet Craig of Picton (right) and her "Satisfied Soul" team were among some 400 Hastings and Prince Edward County residents who raised $35 000 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario through the Heart and Stroke Walk for Heart at West Riverside Park in Belleville.

The name of Janet Craig's business - The Satisfied Soul Personal Chef Services - refers to more than the feeling of well being her customers can expect after indulging in one of her meals.

Rather, the name also reflects Craig's personal life philosophy of taking time to smell the proverbial roses, a philosophy she comes by honestly after suffering a devastating life-threatening stroke 16 years ago.

Craig, who participated in last Sunday's 11th Annual Cheerio's Heart & Stroke Walk in Belleville was a healthy, 40 year old ski instructor in 1991 when she suffered a massive embolism or brain stroke on the chair lift in Mont Tremblant.

"I moved to Picton from Toronto to slow down-life and business got too hectic" said Craig.
