Taming the Sugar Beast

We will discuss the effects of sugar and insulin on the body and why we get cravings. Find out the long term effects of over consumption of sugars, starchy carbohydrates and processed foods, and learn how to eat to eliminate sugar cravings. We start to trade our lighter summer fare for the richer fall flavours, slow simmers and braising. Consider this menu a gentle conversion towards the crisp fall air. Includes Smoked Cheese Stuffed Chicken with Stuffed Tomatoes; Cream of Roasted Garlic Soup; Sauteed Apples with Hazelnuts and Raisins.

Learn which common foods are anti-inflammatory and which familiar foods (even in a healthy diet) can aggravate inflammatory conditions. Includes Pan-Steamed Salmon with Curried Greens; Edamame-Basil Dip; Baked Cinnamon-Maple Apples with Nut Butter Filling.
